Going to Fontainebleau, a town of character next door to Paris, will give you the opportunity to feel immersed in a stunningly welcoming universe. Spending one day in Fontainebleau will not only give you an insight into the splendours of the Château, but also a chance to live like a Bellifontain(e), experiencing one of the most prestigious annual events of the City, the Chocolate Salon.
How about a delicious lunch to start with at « Il Primo Bacio» the famous Italian restaurant a few steps away from the Château?
After lunch, a speaker will introduce you to the realm of INSEAD Fontainebleau, the renowned European campus of one of the world’s leading graduate Business Schools.
You will also enjoy visiting the annual Chocolate Salon, the 9th edition this year! taking place at the Château itself, outdoors (Cour Ovale) and indoors, and you will discover rooms that are usually closed to the public (Galerie des Cerfs and Salle des Colonnes

supervised by the famous Chef Fréderic Cassel, who owns a store in Fontainebleau. The making of chocolate, tasting, chocolate sculptures of animals and famous Parisians monuments, conferences. The salon lasts three days from Friday 27 through to Sunday 29 November – although our visit is planned for Saturday afternoon.

If you wish, either before the lunch or after the Salon, you could also visit the Château, one of the most sumptuously furnished of France’s Châteaux, home to France’s sovereign rulers for eight centuries, or follow the Salon with a tour of the town with Sylvie, who lives and works in the city, or just stroll along the streets of Fontainebleau on your own.
For those of you who would like to stay overnight and enjoy the Sunday morning market, there are many options. Sylvie can easily advise you if you need directions or advice.

- TRAIN INFORMATION
Departure from Hall 1 Gare de Lyon (where the restaurant « Le Train Bleu » is located)
Departure time at 10:15 am
- BUS INFORMATION
When you arrive at Fontainebleau-Avion station, Sylvie will be there on the platform where you get off to welcome you.
A city bus Nr 3401 will take us to the Château. Bus tickets cost €2.50. A fifteen-minute ride.
We’ll get off in front of the Chateau, so you can see the main gate and admire the beautiful horseshoe staircase. The restaurant is just a ten-minute walk from the bus stop through the gardens of the Château.
- MAKING YOUR OWN WAY TO FONTAINEBLEAU
We have reserved a privatised room.
An Italian 3-course meal: shared appetizers, main course and dessert.
Aperitif – Kir or soft drink – and one glass of wine or soft drink with the meal are included.
After the meal, our speaker is Mrs Laura ERHARD, Insead Fontainebleau. Her presentation will be in English.
- « SALON IMPERIAL CHOCOLAT ET GASTRONOMIE »
After lunch and the speaker’s address, you will have a chance to visit the Chocolate Salon with several opportunities to taste various kinds of chocolate including chocolate champagne! If you are not coming for lunch, but only the Salon, please arrive at the restaurant at 14:30 to get your Salon ticket and walk to the Salon with the rest of the group.

- Cost of the Fontainebleau outing per person:
When you book, you will pay for your lunch and for the ticket to the Chocolate Salon.
Lunch: 40 € per person (please indicate any dietary requirements)
Entrance fee to the Chocolat Salon (located at point 4 on the map): 9 € per person
You can either buy a combined Lunch/Salon ticket, or opt to only attend the lunch, or only attend the Salon and then make your own plans for the rest of the day.

Travel to Fontainebleau and back to Paris, whether by Train and Bus or in your own car, is not included in your payment to the Society. As indicated above, the train costs €2.55 and the bus €2.50, both each way.
If you intend to travel in your car, parking is available at various car parks in the centre of town. You can pre-reserve a place at one of the Interparking car parks and an indicative price is €12.10 from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Tickets for the optional visit to the Château are €17 per person. You can either buy your ticket at the Château on the day of your visit, or pre-book through the Château’s website.
